Paysme complies with the main trends for FinTech in 2021

What investment themes are you focusing on for the year ahead?

A number of key themes emerged in FinTech during 2021 and they look set to continue well into 2022, including:

  1. Embedded finance & super apps
  2. Sustainability & climate change
  3. Hyper-personalisation

By design, all three are at the heart of Paysme’s ‘FinTech with Impact’ mission to help underserved small business communities accelerate their transition to the digital economy and unlock their full potential.

Small businesses are the engine of our economy but with over 6 million SMEs in the UK and Ireland alone turning over £2 trillion, the market remains fragmented and underserved. Globally there are over 400 million SMEs, so it’s a huge problem that needs solving.

Many ‘old school’ sectors lack the finance and technology skills to compete with the big boys, and the pandemic has exacerbated this problem, so they risk being left behind.

It’s mission critical to our economy and communities that we fund innovative solutions to help SMEs recover, grow and prosper, so I’ve summarised below specific actions Paysme is taking to make this happen.

  1. Embedded finance & super apps

Most SMEs have multiple common pain points, so it makes sense from a cost, efficiency and support perspective to offer our customers embedded financial services in one ‘super app’ that encompasses mobile payments, digital banking, e-commerce, accounting, insurance and loans.

  1. Sustainability & climate change

Everything we do is centred around our customers’ needs with outcomes that contribute a meaningful financial, social and environmental impact. Our strategy aligns directly with a number of UN sustainable development goals including the transition to electric taxis & vans, sustainable packaging in markets, high streets & stadiums, embedded charitable donations and financial inclusion for SMEs with access to fairer financial services.

  1. Hyper-personalisation

As FinTech becomes increasingly commoditised, it’s clear that SME customers crave a more personalised user experience designed to meet their specific industry needs. Paysme customised apps currently support 3 large, traditional sectors that are the heartbeat of our local communities including black cabs & licensed taxis, markets & high street traders, football & rugby clubs with several other SME sectors in the pipeline.

The only hurdle to overcome now is closing our fundraise of £1m, so we can focus 100% on execution to help support and grow our community of small businesses beyond the current 12,000 customers.

Paysme has a truly unique business model, strong foundation in place, is revenue generating and this funding will be deployed to complete the integration of new services to create Europe’s first FinTech super app for small businesses in Q1, grow multiple revenue streams in Q2, achieve profitability by Q3 and begin scaling in Q4.

If you’re an investor looking to make a meaningful impact on the SME landscape in 2022 with the potential for outsized returns, then Paysme looks like a good place to start!

Why Are Fewer Companies Going Public?

The number of companies listing on the ASX has declined, driven by access to private capital, regulatory burdens, and market volatility. However, public markets still offer liquidity, visibility, and robust capital-raising opportunities.
