Yangama Jokwiro received the prestigious Best Workforce and Industry Development Initiative Award from the African Australian Mining and Exploration Group, (AAMEG), Australia’s peak body ensuring ethical and sustainable mining in Africa. In his acceptance speech, Yangama outlined the importance of the role of nursing from the time of our conception, birth, childhood health, support through disease, and our final transition from this world. See video here.

“..when the medicine failed you and everyone said they could not help anymore – I took over and stayed with you and made sure your transition out of this world was not lonely or painful – but dignified. I am probably the first face you saw when I delivered you and I am probably the last face you will see when you transition out of this world. I am your nurse/midwife.”

Yangama’s passion and commitment to delivering high-quality nursing services to everyone in Africa is driven by his own personal experience. Together with his brother Admore, he has delivered a technology platform to deliver continuous professional development to nurses across Africa to provide the best possible health care.

Zimbabwe was an early adopter of the platform. 29,500 nurses are registered on the platform and have completed one million activities to improve their nursing skills over a period of three years. All of this was delivered during COVID in one of the world’s most vulnerable economies. Undaunted, Yangama and his brother are now rolling out the platform across Southern Africa to deliver improved nursing skills to 450,000 nurses providing services to more than 2,000,000 people across a vast geographic area.

Why Are Fewer Companies Going Public?

The number of companies listing on the ASX has declined, driven by access to private capital, regulatory burdens, and market volatility. However, public markets still offer liquidity, visibility, and robust capital-raising opportunities.
